Guido Anchovy (スカシ-, Sukashi) is one of the main protagonists of the series who, in the Japanese version, goes under the identity Nyankee #2 (ニャンキー2号). He is also the resident cool dude and the most relaxed member of the group.

Appearance[]

Guido is 150 cm (4.11") tall and weighs 55 kg (121 lbs.). He wears a blue suit of armor with a giant red chest plate with various details of yellow colors around his ears, wrists, and feet. He has red eyes, and his monocular telescopic visor is light blue with various details around his hands and feet.

Personality[]

Guido is often seen chasing after girls, despite having little to no success in romance. He also has a laid-back, playboy-like attitude, but he does springs into action when crime is afoot (or when a dazzling damsel catches his eye).

Weapons and Abilities[]

  • Shurikens (Kunais): Guido's projectile weapons.
  • Samurai Sunspot Umbrella: Guido's weapon of choice, which can be used to fire rings, blast heat beam, be spun to hypnotize enemies, and function as a club (when closed) or a shield (when open).
  • Koutou Pikapika: Guido's sword, which is concealed in his umbrella's handle.
  • Ichimonji's Fire: Guido's finishing move.
  • Visor: Guido's helmet can be used to help him see through objects and to see things or people from afar.
  • Nyanki Ninpou: Shown in several episodes.
  • Power Up Form: When Guido's Goonie Bird (Toritsukkun) is docked with him, he goes into Extra Topping Pizza Cats Mode and gains flying abilities.
  • Musical Talent: Along with Speedy and Polly, Guido sings very well, as evidence in episode 30 and episode 40.

Note: Guido is shown to be the only Pizza Cat member, besides the members of the Rescue Team, who doesn't wear a cat bell on his collar.

Relationships[]

  • Speedy Cerviche: While he does get along with him as a fellow employee and as Samurai Pizza Cat, they tend to fight over Lucille a lot, but that was before Speedy chose to be with Polly (in the English version). Guido also often sees Speedy as a loudmouth, but the two of them are actually great friends who enjoy competing with each other.
  • Polly Esther: Guido's friend and teammate, who sometimes makes her angry, along with Speedy, and usually gets a beating or gets smacked by her frying pan.
  • Francine: Guido's boss at the Pizza Cat Restaurant. She convinced him to snap out of his self-pity and help his friends in No Talent Guido.
  • Bad Bird: Guido used to see him as nothing but a bad guy and a rival, but later on, Guido noticed his good side and saw how much of a nice coworker Bad Bird was, as well as him liking Bad Bird and Carla as an official couple.[1]
  • Lucille: Guido and Speedy's crush, who puts them into a rivalry for her affections.
  • Ruby: A girl who Guido falls in love with, but he was heartbroken when he learned that she already has a boyfriend.
  • Big Al Dente: Guido's other boss and superior to him and his fellow employees/teammates.

Trivia[]

  • His last name is a reference to the anchovy fish; and his first name is a common Italian name, which is also used as a slang term for a young, male Italian American in New York.
  • His English name is also a reference to Guido Nincheri, an Italian Canadian artist who the Pope considered as "the Church's Greatest Artist of Religious Themes." In addition to this, his name parallels that of certain other Papally-acclaimed painters, such as Raphael and Michelangelo.
  • He is known for making inappropriate or sexual references throughout the show, which are sometimes more subtle than the others.
  • In episode 12 of KNT (episode 11 of SPC), the Japanese text in the Ninja Crows' profile of Guido claims that he has Athlete's Foot, Tuberculosis, a brain tumor, and AIDS. However, the accuracy of this is questionable as the Ninja Crows' research turned out to be utter nonsense.
  • Older promotional materials spelled Guido's last name as "Anchovi".[2] However, Anchovy has since become the official spelling such as Madman Entertainment's DVD release.[3]
    • His last name is also spelled as "Anchovie" in the Saban Powerhouse comics.
    • In the English version, Guido has a Southern accent.
