Field of Screwballs (見合って見合って野球で勝負, Miatte miatte yakyuu de shoubu) is the 17th episode of Samurai Pizza Cats.

Plot[]

Princess Vi gets jealous when everyone in Little Tokyo is a loving couple, so she decides to find a boyfriend. The Big Cheese kidnaps Fernando, a famous baseball player, whom Princess Vi is a big fan of. He uses him in a baseball battle of the good guys vs. the bad guys. As the game starts, Bad Bird disguises himself as a snack boy and plans to make his move in case anything goes wrong; however, he has to serve everyone at the stadium. During the game, Princess Vi notices Bad Bird and she tells everyone that he is her new boyfriend.

Trivia[]

  • The first episode of Princess Vi trying to marry Bad Bird, but Bad Bird rejects her.
  • The Big Cheese crossdresses as a geisha and a cheerleader.
  • In the SPC version, Vi is given her own cartoon show and wants to pick her own leading man. In the KNT version, Vi is given her choice of several suitors. Both versions have the contestants advertise their talents.
    • Burt Kennels (Wataru in SPC). He claims he can eat one hundred bowls of noodles in a row.
    • The second contestant is unnamed in SPC, but called Hemo in KNT. In SPC, he has counted all the times Princess Vi has had her fits and continues doing so after being sent to the island. In KNT, his talent is counting yen on the abacus calculator. Both versions have him continue to count as he is sent away.
    • The third contestant, Sukue, is also unnamed in SPC but named in KNT. In SPC, Sukue (for lack of a better name) acts if this is the audition for the Wonder Ears (a reference to The Wonder Years) and is immediately sent to Extras Island, upon which he asks the guy rowing the boat if he is Fred Savage. In KNT, Sukue introduces himself but is banished before he can show his talent, on the boat, Sukue yells why did this happen.
  • Extras Island is introduced in the dub, probably because Prisoner Island looks different in this episode of KNT.
  • Both the Good Guys and Bad Guys are horrible at baseball.
  • In the SPC version, Polly Esther tricks Fernando by saying she saw a fly ball. In the KNT version, Polly falsely accuses Fernando of sexual harassment.
  • The episode's English dub title is a play on the title of the 1989 baseball movie, Field of Dreams.

Scene Cuts[]

  • At the beginning of the episode, a shot of Princess Vi's first subject she banishes cut out where she gets hit by a pencil box was cut, followed by Emperor Fred scrolling on the screen.
  • A scene where Francine's face accidentally gets covered with band-aid cuts where Francine picks up her abacus/calculator and says a line making Speedy and Polly confused.
  • A scene where the springy robot is first introduced cuts where the insignias are shown.
  • A shot of a newspaper article of Fernando was cut.
  • A shot where Speedy tries to cheer up Lucille with an autograph from Fernando replaces the insignias on a paper with a cat paw.
  • A shot of a video game-like screen of the baseball player changing positions erases the box with the word "Change".
  • A scene where Polly tricks Fernando of a fly ball erases a cloud with Japanese signatures above his head.
  • A shot of the scoreboard before the final score removes where the signatures are shown replacing with a score scrolling on the screen.
  • A shot of Japanese words above Big Cheese which crumbled into pieces is cut.
  • At the end of the episode, a few seconds of the final shot cuts where Momma Mutt and Junior leave right after Momma Mutt stands dazed.
